The Glamorous Life of L.A.!

J'adore L.A.!

Hey Lovebugs! First let me say that my experience in Los Angeles was like none other before. I’m so fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience the culture, lifestyle, entertainment and new-world era that L.A. has to offer. Although, I only spent three short days there I already feel like Cali is my home and I’m counting down the days of when I can finally make it official. I proudly welcome L.A. into my world and invite the endless glamour awaiting me!

Fashion
Betsey Johnson
On Saturday, August 18th, The Grove’s, Nordstrom greeted a very special someone dressed in a beautiful, gold layered dress,  punk rock pig tails and very haute couture signature stilettos- Guess who? Yes it was the Fabulous Miss Betsey Johnson of course! Betsey Johnson made a personal appearance at Nordstrom’s to celebrate The Grove’s Ten Year Anniversary Shoes!
I don’t even have to tell you how crazy the crowd and press went when she came out! Betsey definitely knows how to steal the spotlight and light up a room that’s for sure. And to top things off, she even took photos with fans who made a $50 or more purchase. Pretty hot right? Check out the video clip to see this crazy footage!

Love these!

Amour Genesis and Karen Marley!
Quick Fact: Karen Marley is Bob Marley’s Daughter and the Owner of Buttons and Bows in L.A.
Sue Wong

J’adore. J’adore. J’adore. That’s really all I can say about Sue Wong’s collection. I mean her line is so uber chic and one-of-a-kind that many words aren’t needed to explain the talented craftsmanship and creativity in her beautifully produced designs.  Just see for yourself ;)

Some of Sue Wong’s Killer Dresses featured at Bloomingdale’s!
Oooh Sassy!

FASHION.STYLE.SELF-EXPRESSION
Within minutes of touching down from my flight, I learned that L.A. is definitely one of those places that embraces funky, eclectic fashions; bold, jaw-dropping designs and super-trendy looks that represent Cali’s uniqueness and appreciation for fashion, art and style. I was amazed at how fearless people were in terms of their selection of dress, while at the same time in admiration of their confidence and “Girl I know I’m fly attitude!” LOL this was just the icing on the cake for a girl from Chicago. As a lover of fashion and bold art, I’m always fascinated by people who aren’t afraid to represent their uniqueness and still really know how to work it!

Pets dressed in sunglasses and shoes
LOL this title alone says it all. Yea, only in L.A. will you see pets dressed better than their owners! I mean really? I saw everything from shitzhu’s in red bottoms to Yorkies named, “Fancy” shopping at Arden B. It was crazy, but I loved it! And just when I thought I saw it all, there it was….a little pooch trotting down The Grove in a pair of FLY sunglasses! Gotta love it right? LOL

Me and Fancy Shopping at Arden B.!
Work it honey!
Uh Oh! Check out the cutie with the fabulous red bottoms! LOL

That’s right, dogs are still one of the hottest accessories out! Just ask L.A.
Lifestyle/Culture
Beautiful Inter-racial Couples

The dating game in L.A. is definitely quite heavy. There were so many couples, both young and older, embracing, holding hands, looking incredibly happy and in-love. But one thing that really caught my attention was the number of beautiful inter-racial couples that I saw. It was so incredible to see pairs of men and women of different ethnicities walking together and appearing so happy, while consciously living in a world without color and race. L.A. is filled with a mix of inter-racial couples that proudly love one another and accept each other for strengths and characteristics much deeper than skin tone and race. I don’t know about you guys, but this is the kind of world that I want to live in.
Hollywood
Just three words:
Yeeaaahhhh Baby Yeeaahhh! Now Hollywood was definitely one of the highlights of my trip! From getting stopped in the street by an NBA player to taking pics with a Sylvester Stallone look-alike, I just enjoyed it all. To start this story off, my publicist and I were playing the tourist game (you know taking lots of pictures, sight-seeing, and getting caught up in the crazy crowds of people thrilled by the fascination of Hollywood life.
I took lots and lots of pictures by a few of the iconic Hollywood Street Stars. These were some of my favorites!
Michael Jackson
Queen Latifah
Julie London
(Quick Fact: I used her “Why don’t you do right” song in my fashion film J )

The Grove
The Grove is definitely one of the hottest places to be in L.A. It’s so beautiful, relaxing, and friendly for everyday tourists and well-known celebs!

Me at The Grove!

Spotted these at The Grove! (Anyone that knows me knows that I love Big, Fabulous Hats!)

This adorable little guy I met at The Grove!
The Beverly Center
The Beverly Center was by far one of the best shopping centers in L.A. This premiere fashion destination has over 160 specialty boutiques reflecting the diverse styles and tastes of L.A. While there I visited their fabulous Bloomingdale’s, where they featured this beautiful, pink-inspired Benefit Cosmetics Pop-up Shop to tempt and tease beauty lovers like myself J
Not only did I have some fun with a little makeup, but I met these two Uber Handsome Gents at The Beverly Center too!

Third Street Promenade

Guys I absolutely loved the Third Street Promenade! It was really fun and a great place to be if you want to relax, shop, watch the exciting entertainment, and just indulge in the endless beach life of Santa Monica, California.
During my visit there I watched these really talented dancers perform a series of awesome dance numbers and amaze the crowd with their humor and out-of-the box dance routines. Their live performance was definitely hot and perfect for a date at the Third Street Promenade. Check it out loves!

A.G. to the Triple OG and One of Cali's Hottest Dance Teams! LOL

For those of you who’ve heard of a trendy little store called Kitson, you’ll know why it was so important for me to visit. That’s right, I over-indulged in “retail therapy” by stopping this famous eclectic store and taking photos with just about everything that I thought was cool. Check out a few photos below!

Entertainment

The girls were definitely all over these little guys! I mean when I say they were screaming, they were really sccreeeaaammminnnggg!!! Mikeya and I felt so old in the crowd because we couldn’t take the noise and even had to wear earplugs lol.  But what can I say, this was definitely expected since Mindless Behavior put on such a great performance and really owned L.A. that night! If I was still in my teen years, I would have been jumping, screaming and extra fanatic too! And besides they’re so cute. Who couldn't help but love these adorable guys? Check out a clip from their recent concert in L.A.

 Anna Madorsky
She’s beautiful. Anna Madorsky is amazing guys. Her voice and spirit syncs so beautifully together and harmonizes in a way that forces you to love her. Although it was my first time ever hearing her voice, I loved every minute of her live performance during her listening party. And did I mention that she’s quite the character too? Anna has one of the best personality’s ever and she is so funny! Just being around and listening to what she has to say is equally delightful and entertaining.

Amour Genesis and one of L.A.'s Hottest Singing Sensations, Anna Madorsky!

Well Beauties it was great sharing my amazing experience from L.A. I hope you guys enjoyed all of the exciting things that I had to share and all of the pictures highlighting my experience. I wish I could have packed you all up in my polka dot suitcase or should I say suitcases (because I do travel heavy lol) and taken you with me! Until next time, stay fabulously glamorous and look out for more signature blogs from your favorite It Girl!

Find out what Amour Genesis Thinks about Stars in Your Eyes Eyeshadow Palette

One of the things I love most about Aida Cosmetics is that this brand is never afraid to step outside of the box and get creative with beauty and glamour. And what’s even better is that, even when you’re just wearing natural makeup, this brand still has just enough flair and natural edge to give you the perfect look you’re going for, without making you overdo it.

The “Stars in Your Eyes” Eyeshadow Palette is very light, non-greasy, non-sticky or heavy, doesn’t irritate or break out the skin (which is so important for me because I have super sensitive skin), feels natural and is the perfect compliment for your already beautiful, natural facial features.

Aida Makeup Cosmetics brings out your best features to help you not only look, but feel like a Glam Goddess too! Try Aida Makeup Cosmetics “Stars in Your Eyes” Eye Shadow Palette for a glamorous, all-day wear beauty look!

Check out Amour Genesis’ Natural Beauty Tips
Inside Beauty Tips from A.G.
1. Start at the base of your eyelid and apply a darker, but subtle natural eye shadow color

2. Next, slowly work your way up towards your eyebrows by applying a series of natural color hues that are lighter than your base shade.

3. Add hints of colors like nudes, pinks, golds and bronzes to create more natural drama and add a bit more flair to your breathtaking look (Note: Ladies you don’t have to add all of these additional colors. Try one of these colors first and then add more as needed, but never add too much product. Less is always better).

4. Blend all of your pretty shades together to create an even, toned and smooth eye shadow look. (Always remember to thoroughly blend your eyeshadow so your colors maintain a soft balance and naturally compliment each other.)

5. Apply a brown, black or metallic eye liner and mascara or faux lashes to really make your eyes pop and bring a little sexy to your good girl image. (Wink! ;)

The Glamorous Life of Amour Genesis featuring "The P. Withers Experience" Live on WVON 1690am

The Beauty Experience
Hello Beautifuls! I recently had the opportunity of being a featured guest on “The P. Withers Experience” on WVON 1690AM for a live discussion on beauty, body image and self-esteem. This was such an exciting show because I was able to talk with not only my fans, but with women around the world about my mission to help them “Love being Beautiful,” while pro-actively helping to improve their self-esteem and confidence.

I must say, it’s always refreshing to help someone, especially when it’s for the betterment of our community and society at large. If I could just help one person a day to feel more confident and accept themselves for who they are, then I know I’ve done my job and pursued the “Amour Genesis” mission.

One of the points that I brought up during the show was the power of “Loving Yourself.” Sure this may sound easy because I believe we all think that we love ourselves already, but the reality is, sometimes we don’t always show it towards ourselves as often as we should. I believe that this is one of the factors that causes many women to lack in their self-esteem, confidence and overall acceptance of who they are, how they look and what they physically represent. But I was always taught that if you don’t love yourself, you can’t expect for anyone else to love you to either. The power of love and acceptance has to start within you first. So the question is: “How do we get to the point of truly loving ourselves and believing that we are beautiful?”

P.Withers actually posed this question herself and when she asked myself and the other women sitting around the discussion table, I immediately thought that it’s just a matter of love and self-empowerment. I’m sure that some of you may think that this is the obvious answer to the issue that many women have encountered, but I do honesty believe that our own self-confidence and the way we feel about ourselves boils down to how much we love ourselves and how much effort we’re willing to put in to remind ourselves of this everyday. Even when we think we’re at our worst, or not looking our best, or not representing the image we hoped to present to the world.

One of biggest influencers and critics is our society. It really bothers me when I see them portray and identify their definitions of “beauty” and “acceptable images” based on their interpretations of how it should be defined. I’ve grown up with a number of different girls of various backgrounds, ethnicities, cultural differences and physical appearances, and despite that we may all look and appear differently to the outside world, we still have one thing in common, and that’s our beauty. I can’t accept the fact that certain women are not defined as “beautiful” and furthermore are not given a fair opportunity to shine and be represented, just because certain individuals or groups don’t identify them as fitting a “cookie-cutter” image, even though many of us don’t fit this anyway. I’ve realized that beauty if merely skin-deep and is far greater than what we have come to know of it today. My mission for the “Amour Genesis” brand is to help all women feel accepted, embraced, empowered, loved and acknowledged despite what any of my counterparts may have to say. I have grown to accept others, both women and men, for the many facets and characteristics they represent and colors that help them shine uniquely within our world. This is my definition of beauty.
Always love being the beautiful you,

Amour Genesis

Bringing Sexy Back!

I still can’t believe this, but on Thursday night I had the opportunity of not only watching a live presentation from S Factor’s Fabulous Founder, Sheila Kelley, but I also had a chance to sit down with her one-on-one and talk about the profound wave of femininity and sensuality that she started with her highly talked about S Factor Fitness Classes!

I must say, at first I thought S Factor’s event was going to be similar to all the other overtly sexy fitness fads, but it was honestly nothing like that, and actually quite refreshing seeing the empowering message and mission behind it. For those of you that don’t know, S Factor started because Sheila Kelley wanted to empower women to embrace, find and identify their femininity and sensuality, despite many of society’s messages teaching us to take on more masculine roles and leave our true gender and biological traits behind. This is so amazing because even though our society instills typical values such as “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” Sheila has successfully transformed our once definition of modern-day femininity to a more sensual, erotic and soulful meaning that she believes every woman embodies.

When chatting with Sheila one-on-one, I felt so connected with her and even inspired by her passion to bring femininity back and help women all over the world to embrace their inner sexy, sensual sides. Check out some of the highlights from our discussion below:

The Modern Wave of Femininity and Sexy
Me: What advice would you give women who are looking to be more empowered and feel more of their inner feminine, sensual side and embrace that, but they’re having a problem with self-esteem or self-confidence or their lacking in those departments. What advice would you give them so they can actually start and explore on that journey like you did?

Sheila Kelley: I think that for me, the number one tool that women need to use that can’t get to an S Factor Studio or can’t get a dvd, is to practice what I call the three C’s: Constantly, Consciously, Cultivating their five feminine geniuses. Their five feminine geniuses are those wonderful gifts that set a woman apart from a man biologically and neurologically, and emotionally, sensually.
And when you live consciously in your body, consciously in your curves, and your breath and your sensuality, you turn your feminine on in a way that society has, or the world has turned it off for one reason or another. But you want to consciously do it. You can’t just go, “I’m gonna think my way into this”. You have to literally sit and rub your hands together. Rub your fingers up and down your arm. Stick a deep, deep inhale of the aroma around you. To live, to embody the moment, to embody your sensuality. I can’t go yea I’m gonna think about it. No you can’t think about it but you can embody it. And you have to practice it Embody the moment, embody your sensuality. And you have to practice it. You have to practice when you walk down the street, just syncing into your curves, syncing into your hips, glazing in your body, lifting your curves. Your breasts should enter the room five minutes before you and your ass needs to leave the room five minutes after you leave it. You need to leave the feminine whiff of you anywhere and everywhere you go.

Me: That’s remarkable. It’s funny because we’ve been trained not to do that, like live a certain way, behave a certain way.

Sheila Kelley: We call it miny-manning.

Me: Yes!

Sheila Kelley: We miny-man ourselves up.

Me: I actually graduated from Loyola last year and I took a really interesting feminine class. It was about doing your gender and feminine gender, and sexuality in our society and learning how to be feminine and learning how to be masculine. And it’s just really interesting how they train us to be a certain way and act a certain way and expect certain things of us to actually do or make our gender and it doesn’t always fit that category. We’re all different in our own way and there’s no way that you can just say like “you can’t be a certain way” or “embrace who you are”.

Sheila Kelley: It’s just that we live in an overly masculine world. And we’ve therefore cultivated the masculine elements of who we are because that’s what’s valued in the world we live in. So we have to reset our mind or reset the way we do it, the way we live, how we live. It’s about how you live. Do you live mindlessly in the future? Do you live thinking about the past? Or do you live in the feminine in the moment?

Me: It’s funny because they teach us to be submissive towards men and let them control us and dominant us. And I don’t believe in that. I think we’re all equals.

Sheila Kelley: We are equal in our differences. We are uniquely different. And we are of equal value, but we’re not the same, we are of equal value. It’s just that the feminine gifts have been degraded. The entire culture is dying for the feminine to come and assert herself. To bring softness back, to bring sensuality back, to bring emotions back. We’ve been taught to curve everything that’s so beautiful about us and I’m all about breaking that rule and resetting who and what we are.

Me: I like that! And I also wanted to know what can we expect to see from S Factor in the future?

Sheila Kelley: Well we’re going to be doing more umm retreats. We’ll be doing these things called jamborees. Which is going to be similar to what Tony Rogers does, larger groups. He does smaller groups like mine. The retreats we do are small and intimate. We’re going to be doing larger venues and larger groups of women. And there’s new book coming out in the spring and it’s a way in toward a woman’s erotic creature without the movement, and through journaling and emotionality. That’s gonna be amazing. It’s like women all over the world without a studio will be able to define who they in their erotic creative and will be able to find their triad through these excercises and 12-week exercises. So that’s happening. We’re gonna to be expanding the studios. We’re going to be franchising and licensing, and we’re just continuing to grow in this new industry that we launched.

Me: Yes! I like how you’re the first person and the pioneer to actually invent this as well too and then other people just started kind of modeling and doing it afterwards. But I like how you’re not just so much about like just sexy fitness and just eroticism, but more so like actually helping women to see their inner selves and embrace all of that

Sheila Kelley: Well that’s the genesis of my passion is creating a feminine culture, creating a feminine way of life. To be a feminine is equated to the word sexy. And to create a sexy life, to create a feminine life is one of the richest things I’ve ever learned and ever done is because I’m really good at it because I’m feminine but I didn’t know it because I never cultivated my feminine before I found it.

Well Dolls I hope you all enjoyed learning about the S Factor experience and reading the highlights from my interview with the lovely Sheila Kelley. It was so incredible to have an opportunity to chat with her and hear the story that inspired her mission to promote femininity and sensuality. Sheila’s truly a woman that’s not ashamed to embrace her femininity, show her inner eroticism and bring the real definition of sexy back, while still empowering others along the way.

Let’s embrace our femininity, show off our emotions and make sure our asses are the last thing to the leave the room! (It’s always best to make a lasting impression anyway right lol) Ladies enjoy your femininity and love being sexy along the way! The girls over at S Factor are doing it, and it’s definitely working for them.
