The Glamorous Life of Amour Genesis featuring "The P. Withers Experience" Live on WVON 1690am

The Beauty Experience
Hello Beautifuls! I recently had the opportunity of being a featured guest on “The P. Withers Experience” on WVON 1690AM for a live discussion on beauty, body image and self-esteem. This was such an exciting show because I was able to talk with not only my fans, but with women around the world about my mission to help them “Love being Beautiful,” while pro-actively helping to improve their self-esteem and confidence.

I must say, it’s always refreshing to help someone, especially when it’s for the betterment of our community and society at large. If I could just help one person a day to feel more confident and accept themselves for who they are, then I know I’ve done my job and pursued the “Amour Genesis” mission.

One of the points that I brought up during the show was the power of “Loving Yourself.” Sure this may sound easy because I believe we all think that we love ourselves already, but the reality is, sometimes we don’t always show it towards ourselves as often as we should. I believe that this is one of the factors that causes many women to lack in their self-esteem, confidence and overall acceptance of who they are, how they look and what they physically represent. But I was always taught that if you don’t love yourself, you can’t expect for anyone else to love you to either. The power of love and acceptance has to start within you first. So the question is: “How do we get to the point of truly loving ourselves and believing that we are beautiful?”

P.Withers actually posed this question herself and when she asked myself and the other women sitting around the discussion table, I immediately thought that it’s just a matter of love and self-empowerment. I’m sure that some of you may think that this is the obvious answer to the issue that many women have encountered, but I do honesty believe that our own self-confidence and the way we feel about ourselves boils down to how much we love ourselves and how much effort we’re willing to put in to remind ourselves of this everyday. Even when we think we’re at our worst, or not looking our best, or not representing the image we hoped to present to the world.

One of biggest influencers and critics is our society. It really bothers me when I see them portray and identify their definitions of “beauty” and “acceptable images” based on their interpretations of how it should be defined. I’ve grown up with a number of different girls of various backgrounds, ethnicities, cultural differences and physical appearances, and despite that we may all look and appear differently to the outside world, we still have one thing in common, and that’s our beauty. I can’t accept the fact that certain women are not defined as “beautiful” and furthermore are not given a fair opportunity to shine and be represented, just because certain individuals or groups don’t identify them as fitting a “cookie-cutter” image, even though many of us don’t fit this anyway. I’ve realized that beauty if merely skin-deep and is far greater than what we have come to know of it today. My mission for the “Amour Genesis” brand is to help all women feel accepted, embraced, empowered, loved and acknowledged despite what any of my counterparts may have to say. I have grown to accept others, both women and men, for the many facets and characteristics they represent and colors that help them shine uniquely within our world. This is my definition of beauty.
Always love being the beautiful you,

Amour Genesis
